Specific to what's in it and whether it's right for your body.

Citric acid is a known trigger for some people, independent of dose. It's in here as a pH buffer and to mask the metallic taste from the potassium and magnesium compounds, not for any nutritional reason, so there's no functional loss in skipping a formula that has it if it's a trigger for you. If this has happened to you with other supplements or foods before, that's worth mentioning to whoever you'd normally ask about it.

It's in the formula in a trace amount, just enough to round off the tartness from citric acid and the mineral notes from the electrolytes, not a real sweetener dose.

Worth knowing before you rule it out: most "monk fruit sweetener" products on shelves aren't pure monk fruit. Pure mogroside extract is so intensely sweet that it's impractical to use on its own, so most commercial blends cut it with a bulking agent, usually erythritol, and sell the mix under the monk fruit name. If you've had a bad experience with a monk fruit product before, there's a real chance what actually caused it was the erythritol or whatever else it was cut with, not the monk fruit itself. This formula uses pure Luo Han Guo extract standardized to 50% Mogroside V, nothing blended in.

That's not a claim that a genuine mogroside reaction is impossible. If you've had a reaction to a verified pure monk fruit product specifically, that's still worth taking seriously regardless of the amount here.

It's not there for taste or energy. Dextrose Monohydrate is dosed in a 1:1 molar ratio with sodium specifically to activate SGLT1, the gut's sodium-glucose co-transporter, which is the most efficient absorption pathway sodium has. Without it, a meaningful share of the sodium you drink just doesn't get absorbed as well.

Sodium-glucose linked transporter 1. It's a protein in the gut wall that moves sodium and glucose into your bloodstream together, faster than either one moves on its own. It's the same mechanism oral rehydration therapy has relied on for decades. It's why this formula pairs a precise amount of glucose with the sodium instead of leaving sodium to be absorbed on its own.

Depends on your definition. "Breaking a fast" means different things depending on why you're fasting (autophagy, insulin response, a religious or eating-window practice), and there's no single rule that covers all of them.

What's actually in it: 3 grams of dextrose at Tier I (more at higher tiers, scaled to their larger sodium dose), dosed to match the sodium 1:1 by mole for absorption, not for taste or energy. It's not a zero-calorie product, and anything with calories breaks a strict fast by most definitions, so if that distinction matters to you, treat it accordingly.

It's 3 grams of added sugar per serving at Tier I (more at higher tiers, since the dose scales with their larger sodium content), dosed to match the sodium 1:1 by mole for absorption, not set against any nutritional target. That's very unlikely to be enough to affect ketosis on its own, but "very unlikely" isn't "zero," so if you're tracking strictly, count it.

Less likely than with other forms. Magnesium glycinate is chelated, meaning the magnesium is bound to an amino acid rather than floating free, which is why it's absorbed at roughly 80% versus much lower rates for forms like oxide. Less unabsorbed magnesium left sitting in the gut generally means less of the laxative effect magnesium is known for.

Tier I is dosed at 400 mg of elemental sodium, calibrated to sweat loss during exercise, not as a general-purpose beverage for someone at rest. If you're managing blood pressure or on a sodium-restricted diet, talk to your doctor before adding this or any sodium-containing product to what you already take in.

Some medications directly affect how your body handles sodium and potassium, things like ACE inhibitors, ARBs, and potassium-sparing diuretics being the most common examples, so it's worth a check rather than an assumption either way. If you're on anything that affects electrolyte balance, run this by your doctor or pharmacist before adding it in.

Electrolyte supplements are exactly the category where kidney function matters, since impaired kidneys have a harder time clearing excess sodium and potassium. If you have any kidney condition, talk to your doctor before using this or any electrolyte product.

None of the ingredients themselves, sodium chloride, potassium citrate, calcium lactate, magnesium glycinate, dextrose monohydrate, citric acid, or Luo Han Guo extract, are common allergens.

What we can't speak to yet is manufacturing and packing, since sourcing and facility decisions haven't been made. A real allergen statement needs to account for cross-contamination risk at whatever facility ends up producing this, not just the ingredient list, and we'll update this once that's locked in.

Every ingredient in the formula is mineral or plant-derived, so it should be. We're not in a position to certify that yet, since sourcing for manufacturing hasn't been finalized, but nothing in the formula itself is animal-derived.

12.5 calories at Tier I, all from the added sugar (dextrose) used to help the sodium absorb. Higher tiers run a bit more since the dextrose dose scales with their larger sodium content. Everything else in the formula, the electrolytes, citric acid, and the trace amount of Luo Han Guo extract, is essentially calorie-free.

Talk to your doctor. Electrolyte needs change during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and that's not something to figure out from a product page.

Each tier is dosed against sweat loss at a specific exertion level, so the right number of servings depends on how much you're actually sweating, not a fixed daily number. Stacking servings beyond what you're losing means taking in more sodium and potassium than the product is designed to replace. Two things, mainly. First, this comes in tiers dosed to specific exertion levels instead of one formula for everyone regardless of how much they're actually sweating. Second, it's built to taste as neutral as the real minerals in it allow, rather than flavored to be enjoyable to drink. Flavor doesn't hydrate you; it's just easier to sell than something that actually works, so we didn't optimize for it.

It's not flavorless, there's a real taste there, just a quiet one. Slightly sweet, slightly mineral, in a clean way rather than the metallic or bitter way raw electrolytes or seawater can taste. The closest comparison: like a flavored electrolyte drink (think Liquid IV) with the flavor turned way down, same general direction, a fraction of the intensity.

The citric acid and the trace of Luo Han Guo extract are doing that work, keeping the mineral notes from tipping into unpleasant and rounding the edges off just enough to land on pleasant. It's built to be as close to neutral as the actual minerals in it allow, not stripped of taste entirely.

"Organic" describes how the sugar was grown, not what it does once it's in the formula. Cane sugar is sucrose, a glucose and fructose molecule bonded together, and it doesn't activate SGLT1 the way free glucose does since it has to be broken down first. Dextrose is glucose already, which is exactly what the absorption mechanism needs, and using more of it than the 1:1 ratio calls for would just be added sugar with no functional purpose.

Sweat loss is not the same at every intensity. A single formula dosed for a heavy training session is more sodium than a light walk needs, and a formula dosed for a light walk won't replace what a heavy session actually loses. Each tier is calibrated to a specific output level instead of averaging across all of them.

The trace minerals in sea salt or Himalayan salt are present in amounts too small to matter functionally; what you're actually getting is sodium chloride with a story attached. Using purity-controlled sodium chloride means the sodium dose is exact and consistent from batch to batch, which matters when the dose itself is the point.

Sweat-loss research reports sodium, potassium, and other minerals in elemental terms, meaning the actual atom, not the compound it's bound to for the formula to work. Reporting compound weight instead would produce a bigger, more impressive-looking number without changing how much of the actual mineral you're getting, so we report the number the dosing is actually based on.

Because the goal isn't sweetness, it's rounding off tartness and mineral notes with as little downside as possible. Luo Han Guo extract's sweet compounds (mogrosides) mostly pass through the gut without being broken down into anything metabolically meaningful, current research hasn't turned up toxic byproducts, and it carries GRAS status from the FDA. At the trace amount used here, it also skips the aftertaste some people get from other zero-calorie sweeteners.

That's not a claim that it's universally side-effect-free; individual reactions happen with any ingredient. But among sweetener options, it has about as clean a safety profile as the category gets, which is a real part of why it's the one used here.

The sodium dosing is validated against ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) sweat research. Formal third-party testing and outside dietitian review aren't in place yet, both are on the roadmap for after development wraps, and we'll update this once they happen.

A balanced diet covers your baseline needs, but not what you actively lose through sweat, and that gap is specifically what these tiers are dosed against. Diet alone doesn't replace those losses fast enough to matter while you're still losing them, which is the real reason this exists rather than just eating well and calling it done.

Where diet probably is enough on its own: if you're not sweating heavily in the first place. Match the tier to what you're actually losing, not to a general sense that electrolytes are good for you.

Using it

Practical questions about actually drinking the stuff.

No. The tiers are built around exertion and fluid loss, not sport specifically. Tier I's own tags include hot days and physical work shifts right alongside light training, because what matters is how much you're actually losing, not the setting you lost it in.

The same logic extends to illness: fever, vomiting, and diarrhea all cause real electrolyte loss, which is part of why oral rehydration is a standard approach in the first place. The idea here is simple: whenever you need electrolytes, pick the tier that matches what you're actually losing.

Concentration matters for absorption. A dose this precise, mixed into too little water, can end up too concentrated for the gut to absorb efficiently, which can also just feel unpleasant to drink. The recommended dilution is calibrated so the sodium-to-glucose ratio doing the absorption work actually functions the way it's designed to.

Match it to how much you're actually losing, not ambition or the setting. Tier I covers low-demand output, whether that's light training, a hot day, or a physical work shift. Tier II is moderate, Tier III is high output where losses are heaviest. If you're between two, it's safer to under-dose than over-dose; you can always have another serving.

Start about 20 minutes before activity, then keep sipping throughout. The lead time gives your body a chance to absorb and preload before you start losing anything, and sipping through the session keeps you replacing losses as they happen instead of playing catch-up afterward.

You can, but it's designed for replacing real losses, not as a daily habit independent of them. On a true rest day with no meaningful sweat loss, heat exposure, or illness in the mix, you likely don't need it.

General guidance for a mixed electrolyte solution like this is to drink it the same day, refrigerating if you're not finishing it right away. We haven't run actual stability testing on this formula yet to give you a precise window, so treat that as a sensible default rather than a tested number for now.

Water is what the dosing is calibrated for. Mixing with juice or another sweetened drink adds uncontrolled sugar and changes the concentration the sodium-to-glucose ratio depends on, so it's not something we'd recommend if you want the formula to work as designed.
